Young Shirebrook team win the Wednesday title Jim Delaney top scored for Clumber Park with 43 in a great start to this week's Sunday matches as his side set Cuckney Cowboys a modest target of 91 to win. Despite 24 from Paul Hunt and 22 from Ant Johnson, Cowboys fell an agonising three runs short as Johnson was bowled with two balls of the innings left. Nomads were disappointing after two wins on the run to lose by six wickets to Thoresby Park, and Bawtry were also well beaten, this time by Blidworth by 31 runs. 37 not out by Mansfield & Pleasley batsman Ian Woodall was not enough to stop a third defeat on the trot as Killamarsh hit the winning runs off the final delivery of the game to finish on 108 for 5 in response to Mansfield & Pleasley's 107 for 5. No giant killing as Clowne easily overcame Rose Raptors by a 70 run margin and victory over Thoresby Park next week will give them the Sunday title they richly deserve. After a second consecutive defeat, Tea Bags lead a group of four teams on 8 points in what promises to be the best ever finish to the Monday League, the formula of total runs scored times total wickets taken will almost certainly be needed to sort out the placings after next week' s final matches. The Calypso Kids racked up a massive 139 all out total against Langold, James Hubbell with 41 and captain Richard Watts with 39 leading the way. Plucky Langold certainly had a go and were only 8 runs short when they ran out of overs finishing with 131 for 5. Congratulations to Craig Rowland and his young Shirebrook team who, after a 14 run win over the Mansfield & Pleasley Dragons, win the Wednesday league title. They have been pushed all the way by Bawtry, and runners up Tricky Trees who were facing defeat in their final game against fast improving Fiskerton, as they needed six to win with two balls to go, before Ollie Wilson smashed a six to win the game by 2 wickets. The wooden spoon goes to Blyth who looked set for a first win of the season as they moved in on Teversal's 83 all out target before nerves got the better of them, scoring two of the four needed to win off the last ball of the game. Cheers Steve.
