New sponsorship deal for knockout cup

The Mansfield & District Cricket League is all set and looking forward to its 61st year of cricket in the Mansfield & District area. Once again all matches will take place on Sundays. The League is, once again, grateful to their main sponsor Birch Tree Homes for their continued support and we are pleased to welcome a new sponsor to the Cup competition, namely Pentagon Vauxhall group of Mansfield and Notts.

The League is also pleased to announce a ball sponsorship deal is in place for all clubs in the Mansfield League who purchase balls from C.F. Sports of Mansfield Woodhouse.

During 2007 the League will consist of a Premier division with ten teams, four divisions also of ten teams and a division of fourteen teams making a total of 64 teams, a record throughout the League’s history. The League is pleased to welcome four new clubs, Pilsley, Morton, Shipley Hall and Denby for the 2007 season as well as seeing a number of clubs introducing second elevens to the League and the reintroduction of Cuckney first team back into the League.

Geographically the League stretches from Sheffield in the North, through Ashover, Chesterfield, Mansfield and as far South as Denby, Ilkeston, Hucknall and Blyth.

The Mansfield Youth section is also growing in numbers and stature and is providing cricket and coaching for all age groups up to senior levels.

Matches are umpired by the Mansfield & District Cricket Umpires Association and. like all other leagues throughout the country. are in need of more umpires.  Anyone with a Sunday or two to spare who would like to have a go at umpiring without having to travel far, or any clubs wishing to join the League, should contact Godfrey Kerry 01246 865390 for more details.
