Impressive Holmesfield trounce defending champions Week two in the Yorkshire and Derbyshire Cricket League saw Holmesfield build on their impressive win against Calver last week as they amassed 271-5 against defending champions Stanton. Roslington’s 112, supported well by 50 from Rodgers put the game out of the reach of Stanton who managed 164 all out with Hadfield collecting 43. Hathersage met Parkhead in a close encounter, Hathersage were limited to 110 all out with Turner claiming 4-34, Parkhead reached their total with two wickets to spare despite Parry’s 4-40. Latimer’s 68 helped De La Salle to post a competitive total of 185-5 in their match with Calver. In response the visitors were bowled out for 44. Wainwright 5-12 and Howard 4-11 doing the damage for De La Salle with the ball and it was a similar story for Stocksbridge who were bowled out for 57 chasing SWD’s 190 all out. Sampson’s emphatic 8-20 sealing the points for SWD. In Division 2 Parkhead ran out of overs against Grindleford falling 6 runs short of the 208 they were set to win. Skelton’s 68 for Grindleford helping the visitors to that total with Pass responding 62 for the home side. Bakewell struggled to 146 all out against Sheepbridge, a total that was reached for the loss of only one wicket, that of Whitehead for 74. Henshaw’s unbeaten 47 seeing Sheepbridge through to pick up maximum points. Millhouses eased to a 154 run win over De La Salle. 48 from Attrill helped Millhouses to reach 225-8. In response De La Salle were bowled out for 71. Walkley picked up and impressive win at home to SWD. Works first innings total of 207, including 56 from J. Summerhill, 54 from I. Mallett and 4-17 from Walkley’s R. Wing, was reached for the loss of 7 wickets, 48 from Boyden and 45 from Frith playing a big part in the successful run chase. Baslow spluttered to 114 all against Ridgeway with Woodhead taking 4-17, a total which Ridgeway reached with few problems only losing two wickets. Cartwright was the star of the show for Ridgeway with 81 not out and Chesterfield Barbarian’s bounced back from their defeat last week to defeat Centralians. Barbarian’s reached a first innings total of 191-9 including 44 not out from Daniels despite impressive figures of 4-34 from Stevens. In reply Centralians were bowled out for 70 thanks in no small part to Sharman’s 4-19. It was disaster in Division Three for Sheepbridge as they were bowled out for 39 against Sheffield Transport, Lewis and Cotteril helping themselves to 5 wickets each. Transport reached their total with all ten wickets still in tact to complete a comprehensive victory. Millhouses recorded a 7 wicket away win at Centralians. The home side, limited to 164-9 by Khan’s 5-38, Wright’s 49 helping Centralians to a respectable total. In response Millhouses 166-3 wrapped up the points, a successful day was concluded for Khan seeing him accumulate 73 along with an unbeaten 75 for Oliver. Collegiate squeezed home against Dronfield Woodhouse with a wicket to spare chasing 135 for victory. Seal’s 5-44 helped to keep Woodhouse’s total down and 45 from Layer helped to see Collegiate to victory despite 4-50 from Yate. Hundall posted a competitive 185-9 against Whittington Wanderers seconds. Henderson’s 4 wickets stopping Hundall from going any further with Gibson managing 43 for Hundall and it was he again who added to his score in the first innings by taking 4-37 to help restrict Wanderers to 113-8. Whittington’s first team didn’t fare any better despite bowling out Duckmanton Lodge for 106, with Needham taking 4-26. They stumbled to 95 all out Price taking 4-27 and Atkinson 5-22 for Duckmanton. Hathersage’s 197-6 which included 87 from Buxton was too many for Hallam who battled to 151 all out helped by 40 from Brennan. In Division Four Stocksbridge thirds beat Duckmanton Lodge seconds by 5 wickets. Duckmanton’s 117-8 including Tarlton’s 64 not out was kept under control by Rolfe’s 4-20. Ruparelia added an unbeaten 66 to his 43 last week to help Zingari to a 7 wicket win against Dronfield Sports seconds. The 159 posted by Dronfield was not enough to keep Zingari at bay, and Coal Aston thirds picked up maximum points away at Ashford seconds as they chased down a first innings total of 163 including 53 from Maroney. Coal Aston having Shah and Jones to thank as they picked up 4-31 and 4-33 respectively. In respose the visitors made hard work of it but eventually managed to get over the line for the loss of 8 wickets. 55 from Lawrence helped matters but 11 year old Muir threatened to spoil the party with 4-28.
