Hundall benefit with comprehensive victory Hundall were the chief beneficiaries of a clear day on Saturday as they racked up a comprehensive 9 wicket win away at University Staff after they were set 100 to win. SWD were equally emphatic winners as they bowled out Collegiate for just 69, having set an impressive 227-4 in the first innings, which included Wake’s 104* before Khan’s 4-24 for SWD saw off Collegiate challenge. Calver posted a meagre 54-9 off their 46 overs with D Clark snaring 5-11. Stanton reached their total for the loss of just 4 wickets. 89 from Jones steered Parkhead to a competitive 193-9. The total turned out to be too many for De La Salle who could only muster 145 in response. Peach was once again in the wickets for Bakewell as he secured 6-43 in SWD’s 115-7. 5-9 from Lake however was the difference as Bakewell were then removed for just 77. Ridgeway beat Chesterfield Barbarians by 7 wickets after Keys and Burp took 6-40 and 4-54 to remove Barbs for 109. Walkley struggled to 73 all out against Centralians. Wainwright’s 6-15 was the highlight, backed up by a very useful 4-20 from Goodson. Cents had few problems in the run chase as they closed on 75-3. Parkhead II, and particularly Vinall who collected 5,5 batted nicely to set 216-9 for De La Salle II to chase. They fell short of their target ending on 136-9 despite a helpful 46 from Turner; the top performer though was Spilman who took 4-14 for Parkhead. The weather ruined all of Division 3’s fixtures with many grounds still waterlogged from the horrendous downpour but two games survived in Division 4. Baslow beat Zingari by 20 runs after setting the home side 147 to win, and 40 from Woolstenholm helped to tip the scales in favour of Dronfield Sports Contact as they accumulated 132-7, a total that Duckmanton Lodge II couldn’t match as they made 116-9 in reply.
