Waters causes havoc as Calver lift cup After rain stopped Collegiate’s innings prematurely last week when they were well set on 115-1 and looking at setting a mammoth total they must have been disappointed to have found themselves in early trouble in the replay at Hathersage on Sunday. 15 year old Tom Waters’ swing and pace caused havoc for their openers as he took the first three wickets of Naik, Gibson and Ellis, all clean bowled with only 13 on the board. Collegiate were bowled out for 79 with 4-14 going to the impressive Waters and 4-18 to S Hallows which included a spectacular catch from Calver’s captain Howie to dismiss T Leiper.
Calver’s innings started in equally jittery fashion with both openers Hilton and Street falling with just one run between them in an impressive spell of bowling from Lomas and Winter. Beauchamp followed closely behind them as Calver fell to 9-3. The in form Howie staged a fight back before playing on for 34. Wickets steadily fell, four of which were claimed by Ellis for just 12 until Calver’s number 10 Waters came in to strike the winning runs with a pull over midwicket for four.
