Bawtry scrape home to lead into final week A lot still to be decided in the Sunday League going into the final week of the season. Bawtry saw off a determined effort from Cuckney Cowboys' Mark Langford, top scoring with 28 not out, in a final total of 89 for 5. Only two Bawtry players made double figures in reply but, with Lewis Fleming on 38 and Dan Mothersdale with 35 not out, it was just enough to give the League leaders a one wicket win off the final ball of the game. When an under strength Mansfield & Pleasley scored an impressive 130 for 4 against Killamarsh, it looked like the title was heading Bawtry`s way, before stand in Captain Sam Malpass, with 34 not out, and Adam Whitely, with 32 not out, ensured the battle for the title went to the final week. A win for Nomads over Thoresby Park means they swap places at the bottom for possibly the final time, and Woodsetts gave themselves a play-off chance by beating Clowne, but even after three defeats on the run, third place is still in Mansfield & Pleasley's possession. Victory in their final game against Nomads would confirm it. After a great season Cuckney Terriers are starting to slip and after losing to Kashmir Tandoori, and Calypso Kids beating Tea Bags, next week's show down between the two will decide the champions. Langold have played well this term and smashed the highest score of the season with a massive 193 for 3 against Whitwell, but Clumber Park will claim the third spot if they can overcome Kashmir Tandoori next week. Tricky Trees clinched the Wednesday title by beating Fiskerton by five wickets, and M & P Dragons' Haydn Wright was the only batsman not to retire against Rose Raptors in the 151 for 2 total. Raptors responded with their highest score of the season 115 for 3. Shirebrook won a nail biter against Teversal, Grant Smedley hitting the winning run with only two balls left to finish on 36 not out and again take the final play-off spot to the final week. Cheers Steve.
