Fine knock from pen nicking Wheatley is a losing cause Even with six weeks of the season left it looks like perm three from the top four for the play-off spots in the Sunday League with a five point gap from Cuckney Cowboys in fourth to Woodsetts in fifth. Clowne can only improve after being bowled out for a measly paltry 19 against leaders Killamarsh who polished them off in 20 minutes and spent the rest of the hour practising. Bawtry should provide stronger opposition next week, they have come a long way in the four years they have been in the League and Paul Warren and his boys deserve much credit for the hard but sporting way they play the game. Josh Houlden (22 not out) and Liam Seeley (20) led Calypso Kids to a narrow two wicket win over Kashmir Tandoori, and Clumber Park won a high scoring game with Langold. Hard hitting Gas Beard smashing 36 not out to give Park the points after Adam Dutton was again on form top scoring with 39 not out for Langold. The game with table topping Cuckney Terriers brought out the best and worst of young Whitwell all rounder Danny Wheatley. First he scored a fine 40 in a losing cause as his side fell 32 runs short of the 122 target then he nicked my pen after writing down his teams averages. This could result in him becoming only the second lbw victim in the five years the League has run. The last unbeaten run went on Wednesday as Nick Langford inspired M & P Dragons crashing 35 not out in good time to set Tricky Trees a target of 107 to win. Captain Ant Johnson led the reply from the front with 29 not out but the Dragons held their nerve to record a ten run win. A very modest 72 for 5 shoreline from Fiskerton, with only Steve Collington (27 not out) showing much resistance. This left Shirebrook what looked an easy task to join Trees on 14 points, but a fight back made them work hard and only a good 30 not out from Andy Cann eventually led them to a two wicket win. Teversal also had a battle, this time with lowly Blyth, but 35 from Carl Hewitt and 29 from Chris Hewitt was again enough to win by two wickets. Cheers Steve.
