Thoresby recovery fails to meet expectations
by Steve Spencer, 23rd October 2005

After recovering from being 28 for 3 at the halfway stage, Thoresby Park would have expected their final total of 108 for 5 to be enough to take the points. Clowne responded with some aggressive batting to win with two overs to spare.

Nomads are in fine form, this week beating Ashover by 6 wickets. Cowboys only needed 11 runs with four overs left and three wickets in hand, but tenacious Bawtry took the last wicket with only two balls left, with Cowboys still nine runs short .

The performance of the week came on Thursday with Blyth's Nick Widdowson smashing the Cuckney indoor scoring record with an amazing 97 not out in Blyth's 111 for 6 reply to Shireoaks 110 for 6. Walesby and Barmy Army both won their second games on the run, and a new look Langold side beat Tricky Trees by 14 runs.

A surprise in the first week of the Monday league, with new boys Rowthorne Lane Silveres beating newly crowned Bassetlaw champions Thoresby Colliery by four wickets. Andy Stephenson scored 20 of Tea Bags 32 all out total, which Clumber Park knocked off in only three overs. Last season's play off champions Springboks had to be content with a share of the spoils after a thrilling tie with The Mafia.
