Last ball run out results in exciting tie for Blidworth
by Steve Spencer, 12th November 2005

For the second time in four weeks, Blidworth had two balls left to score the one run required for victory, but good bowling by Nomads Kevin Wright, and a run out off the last ball resulted in another exciting tie. Woodsetts made league leaders Clowne work hard to keep up their 100% record before falling 15 runs short of the 111 for 4 target.

Pilsley and Mansfield & Pleasley both had easy wins to set up a second v third clash in week five. Thoresby Park kept up the pressure with a seven wicket win against Bawtry, and Ashover are another team on six points after beating plucky Cuckney Terriers by 30 runs.

A great performance by The Mafia on Monday, thrashing a disappointing Clumber Park by 49 runs, to move from bottom to fourth place. Springboks captain Will Butler saved his side with a patient 59 out of 94 which proved to be 48 too many for Tea Bags.

The Barmy Army looked to be heading for its first defeat in two seasons when bowled out for a miserly 69 before rallying to see off Shirebrook for only 53. Their main danger in the Thursday league looks to be Langold who won their third on the trot, and the clash between the two on week seven could decide the title. Yet another tie on Thursday with Tricky Trees and Shireoaks sharing the points on 84 runs each.

The play offs this season will be between the top three teams from the Sunday and Monday Leagues and the top two from the Thursday League.
